Organising a successful Clue Content filming day involves meticulous planning and coordination. It consists in managing a production team, videographers, location, food and drinks for the day, and most importantly, the clients attending.
Creating a content creation shoot plan
Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure everything runs smoothly, from booking your videographer to wrapping up the shoot.
Step 1: Book the Videographer
The first step is to book a skilled videographer. Make sure they have the necessary equipment for the shoot. This includes cameras, sound equipment, and any other specialised gear needed for your specific filming requirements.
Step 2: Secure the Venue
Next, book a venue that meets all your needs. Ensure the venue has enough space for all clients to film separately, avoiding any repetitive backgrounds or settings. Additionally, confirm that the venue fits within your budget constraints.
Step 3: Arrange Makeup Artists
Book makeup artists and inform them about the filming day details. Provide the makeup artists with the number of clients they will be working with and their different skin tones to ensure they bring the appropriate products and tools.
Step 4: Communicate with Clients
Send out emails to all clients, informing them of the date, time, and location of the shoot. Clear communication is crucial to ensure everyone is on the same page. You will also receive a shot list of all the things you will be talking about and filming during your day. Everything on your shot list comes from what we discuss in your planning meeting and is all strategically planned with your goals in mind for the upcoming three months of content. You can access some of our clients’ testimonials from their experience with Clue Content through this link HERE.
Step 5: Internal Coordination
Draft an internal email for the team and the videographer. Include all necessary details such as the schedule, location, and a rundown of the day’s events. This will help everyone understand their roles and responsibilities, sent out a week before filming.
How to prepare for a content creation shoot
Firstly – make sure you have a good breakfast in the morning before you come filming. Even if you aren’t normally a breakfast person. Having a little something helps keep your energy up in the morning when we do your talking to camera pieces.
You will always receive your shot list two weeks before your filming day. It details everything we are going to capture on the day, and also lists your Aroll topics. Have a look at these and have a think about what you may want to say. You’ll also be sent the venue details, so make sure you take a look at this so you know where you’re going but if there are any areas of the venue that you would particularly like to film in.
Finally, make sure you’ve had a good night’s sleep and prepped a few outfits the night before. We always recommend at least 5 outfit changes.

Organising a filming day requires attention to detail and effective communication. By following these steps in Clue, we can ensure a well-coordinated and successful shoot. And remember, at the end of the day, when the filming wraps up, take a moment to celebrate the hard work and creativity that went into making it all happen. We sometimes do this just by sitting and talking to our clients about how they found the day.
