Marketing 101: Video Marketing Strategies for B2B

Social Media and Video Marketing 101

Hi again Clubies, today let’s talk Marketing 101.

Digital marketing is evolving at such a fast pace, social media and video content are now powerful tools for businesses trying to grow an audience. It’s not just about creating videos; it’s about crafting compelling content for each platform, optimising for maximum reach, and tracking its performance using the data to continuously review and refine what you are doing and your strategy.

Creating Video and Social Content Strategically.

There is no point in creating content for content’s sake, just to put something out there, it really does need to be strategic for best results. This involves a meticulous approach to planning, creating, and distributing video content. The key really is in the planning. So, what sort of things do you need to think about when you are planning your content strategically.

What do you want to achieve? Whether it’s brand awareness, lead generation, increased reach or customer engagement, clear objectives will guide your content creation and distribution strategies.

Who are you trying to reach? Who is your audience? You really need to have a clear idea of who your (dare I say it) ideal customer is. What do they do? What sort of content do they prefer? What resonates with them?

Plan Plan Plan (and Schedule). Plan ALL your content in advance and use a scheduler to ensure you are posting consistently. Then additional posts can be done to any reactive content and stories.

Do you have a budget? How much time can you dedicate to content creation? And then plan this all accordingly. You can have the most extravagant content plan and strategy but if you cannot implement it there’s no point!

Look at the data and progress from there: Keep checking your analytics and data. What performs best? Is there a pattern? Use your metrics and then adjust your plan accordingly after a set period.

In Clue, we take care of all of this as there is a whole team dedicated to managing your content. Check the TEAM out HERE!

How to Create Compelling and Engaging Videos.

Creating engaging videos is like baking a cake, you need the right ingredients…  creativity, storytelling, and (some) technical know-how. Always think of the point of the video. Why are you making it? What do you want to achieve?

  • Tell a Story: People love stories. So tell one. What’s your story?
  • Get their attention: Grab attention within the first few seconds with a witty hook. The first 3 seconds are EVERYTHING. (B-Roll is great for this as it is quick and snappy content)
  • Keep It short, sharp and snappy: Short, impactful videos often perform better. Grabs the attention of the reader quicker as it is straight to the point of the message.
  • Focus on Quality: High-quality visuals and sound can significantly increase viewer engagement. If this means two super amazing videos a month then that’s better than lots of poor-quality content.
  • Include a Call to Action (CTA): Tell your audience what you want them to do… But ask politely.

Videos and content for Each Social Media Platform

Different social media platforms have different features and user behaviours. Create content accordingly:

  • Instagram: Keep videos short and sweet and make them vertical! Instagram is good for striking visual content and concise messaging. Reels are your best friend.
  • YouTube: This is good for longer; more educational content and landscape is what you need. Provide value and keep your branding consistent with other platforms. Don’t forget quality, quality, quality!
  • TikTok: Short and engaging videos again here with a vertical format. Let your creative side out here and try and hop on some fun trends that could work for you and your brand! Encourage interactions and be relatable.
  • Facebook: Another great platform for video content. Keep it relatively short but capture attention within the first couple of seconds. Include a call to action.

But above all, have consistent messaging, add value and keep your strategy in mind.

How to Track Marketing Performance

So how do you know if it’s working?

Has your view count gone up? If it has this will indicate that the Reach of your content has increased so you are being seen by more people.

Are you getting more engagement? More likes, comments, shares and saves?

Some platforms can show you watch time. The impressions. The amount of plays. Has this gone up?

And has your follower count gone up? Or your website taps?

Each social media platform has analytics, so learning and understanding what these mean will enable you to understand what resonates with your audience and what is working for you on each platform! If you don’t know what’s working and performing the best, then ultimately your content strategy won’t be effective as you will be posting just for the sake of posting.
